What I mean by GET A LIFE

I use the term GET A LIFE frequently, this blog explains what I mean by get and life and why I passionately believe you deserve a life you love.

There are five components to what I mean by GET A LIFE - knowledge, understanding, choice, priorities and time.

Knowledge:

Knowing who you are and what you want. This knowledge includes your values, your strengths, your super powers. And also your kryptonite, the things you find challenging or triggering.

Understanding: Understanding and managing your emotions. Know that emotions are data, input not facts. Like the valence on a battery, you need to be able to experience both positive and negative emotions to achieve the full human experience.

Choice: You are able to choose the life you want. You are in the driver’s seat, you can set the direction and trajectory of your life.

Priorities: Have a list of priorities and make sure you are on it. This is not a “to-do” or “project” list - rather a list of the things that are a priority for you at this moment in time.

Time: Spending your time aligned with your priorities. Check that you are spending your time on the things that are important to you. Create alignment between your priorities and what you are actually doing.

You deserve to know yourself, you deserve to govern your emotions and you deserve to live a life you love.

What you get when you work with me

fun

A whole bunch of fun. I’m a firm believer that the best learning takes place alongside fun. Fun creates a space where you are willing to take risks and think differently, to give things a go and not be afraid of getting things wrong. Fun doesn’t mean not tackling the hard stuff - because we will do the hard work, but not take ourselves too seriously while we are doing it.

a champion

One of my superpowers is seeing the awesome in others. I can see your awesome and help you see it, too.

Perspective

The difference between a normal conversation and a coaching conversation is that a coaching conversation changes your perspective. Power questions are used to change the way you think. Moving out of the situational context and elevating your thinking to another level. This is a great tool if you are stuck or going around in circles - you can’t use the same thinking that created a problem to get you out of it
