Want to Get More Done (and Feel Good Doing It)? Do These 5 Things Every Week
Simple weekly habits to boost your focus and fulfilment, so you finish each week proud of what you’ve created.
If you want to get more done without burning out, it’s not about squeezing more hours out of your week — it’s about working smarter. Here are five simple habits that will help you stay focused, consistent, and productive.
1. Have a plan (that links to your longer-term goals).
Start your week by reconnecting with your bigger picture. What are you ultimately working toward? Make sure your weekly plan supports those longer-term goals — otherwise, you’ll stay busy but not necessarily productive.
2. Break your plan into clear, specific chunks.
Vague to-do lists are productivity killers. Get granular. Instead of “Social Media,” try “Create 5 post ideas, images, and captions to schedule for the week.” Specific equals actionable — and that’s how progress happens.
3. Schedule those chunks into your calendar.
Don’t leave your to-do list floating in your head or notebook. Block time in your calendar for each chunk — this turns intentions into commitments and makes it far more likely you’ll follow through.
4. WCPGW? (What Could Possibly Go Wrong?)
Do a quick sense check. Have you overloaded a single day? Scheduled your deep-focus work for your least productive time? Forgotten about other commitments? A few minutes of planning now can save you hours later.
5. Book something fun into your week.
Productivity isn’t just about doing, it’s about sustaining. Schedule something that energises you: an hour of downtime, a walk with a friend, a coffee date, or time for a hobby. When you have something to look forward to, your motivation stays strong.
This is Boss Mode work, setting clear intentions and giving your Worker Mode the best possible chance of succeeding.
At the end of each week, take five minutes to review with a simple Stop / Start / Keep reflection.
What worked? What didn’t? What will you carry forward?
